—Jasmine, Episode 63[1]

Jasmine Flores is an artist and aspiring game designer who has collaborated with her friend from college Sam Young. Jasmine has become more pragmatic about her desires to be a professional artist after some negative experiences. Out of concern for Sam, Jasmine advises her that she should not pin her hopes on breaking into the game development industry.

Biography

Background

"But don't expect to make it your career anytime soon."

—Jasmine, Episode 63[1]

Jasmine attended the same college as Sam and their mutual passion for game design lead to a friendship that has continued to this day. Jasmine's skills as an artist were put to good use in Sam's first indie game Ruminate. Despite this early success in getting paid to create art for a game, over a year of sending out applications has led to little or no paying work for Jasmine. As she explains to Sam when contacted about doing more art for Sam's next game she's working on the disappointment of countless rejections and mounting pressure from bills forced Jasmine to take on a job at her mother's realty business in order to make ends meet. The harsh realities of trying to get a job in the gaming industry has left Jasmine so demoralized that she hasn't drawn anything for several months.

Personality

Jasmine is a fairly confident woman especially when it comes to artistic abilities. She is aware of her skills and is not willing to compromise on appropriate compensation for the work she does. However this attitude has also lead to a somewhat pessimistic view of the chances of making it professionally in game design.

Appearance

Jasmine medium length black hair usually pulled back in a pony tail revealing the close cropped sides and back. She has dark brown eyes as well as a number of piercings.

Relationships

Sam Young

Jasmine's friend from college and occasional collaborator on indie games.
