"You should have come to me first."
—Charles, Episode 17[1]
Charles Jones often cultivates an enigmatic persona giving rise to questions about what his motivations and intentions truly are. His adherence to a certain level of formality in the way he speaks and interacts with people which leads to the impression of his being cold and distant which reinforces his mysterious nature. Despite Charles' occasional appearance of being a manipulative villain he does care about the people he works with.

Background
"Please indulge my old-fashioned gentlemanly-side."
—Charles, Episode 36[2]
Charles is originally from Wales where he was once married to a woman named Gweneth and although he has held onto his wedding band they are no longer together. Since he moved to America his Welsh has become a bit stilted as he has little opportunity to speak it.
In addition to his duties as the General Manager at Young Technologies Charles is also a fencing instructor and freelances as a consultant to escape room designers. Although a skilled fencer capable of holding his own against an Olympic medal winner, Charles has never competed at that level himself. Charles' life long interest in puzzles and riddles combined with his attention to detail have allowed him to excel at going through escape rooms to the point where he is in demand as a tester and reviewer.
After learning about Sam's true feelings about taking over as CEO at Young Technologies, Charles bends the truth with Samuel through some unique phrasing, and convinces him to let Sam to become his new assistant.
Personality
Charles is extremely composed and exudes an air of confidence. He treats everyone with respect but has little patience for those unwilling to show a similar level of respect in return.
