Biography
Background
"I had hoped that by being on Indigineer, a game company might offer me a job in game development. Unfortunately, things haven't quite worked out that way."
—Sam Young, Episode 1[1]
Born extremely premature (5.5 months), Sam spent most of her childhood in and out of hospitals due to poor respiratory health. It was there that she developed a love for gaming -- finding the distraction she and patients experienced while playing games to be an inspiration for her to pursue a career in game development. Having spent most of her college days working on her first indie game Ruminate, and missing out on social activities and sleep, Sam released the game to the public shortly after graduating to the website, Indigineer. A little over a month later her developer score was 8.2 out of 10.
At the beginning of Let's Play, the gaming personality Marshall Law, records himself playing Sam's game. His review of her game was not positive and was described as having numerous "rants" that resulted in a "ragequit". He then uploaded the video of his review to the website Viewtube where it soon became his most viewed video. As a result of his negative review, his fan base reportedly spammed Sam's Indigineer profile with negative ratings in what can be referred to as a critical backlash, resulting in her developer score of 8.2 to be downgraded to 0.3, and for her account to be flagged for suspicious activity.
By the end of the prologue, it is shown that Marshall Law is moving into the apartment next door to Sam.
